The Clan Forbes Society has partnered with Thistle Dubh Enterprises and Jamie, Lord Sempill, of Clan Chief Tours to create a bespoke Forbes ancestral tour for twenty people in August 2020.
Our first stop with be Inverness, featured in the books and TV series Outlander. We’ll have the opportunity to conduct genealogy at the Highland Archive Centre which maintains an array of Forbes family records and documents. Then we’ll indulge ourselves in shopping village of Logie Steadings.
Our last stop is will be at Knockando Woolen Mill, first listed as a “Wauk Mill” in 1784. One of the last district mills its kind, the Woolmill was passed down through generations of families up. The Knockando Woolmill Trust was set up in 2000 to secure the future of the mill. The Trust has restored the Victorian machinery and the Woolmill is once again fully operational.
